ApBUILDER is a powerful tool for programming Intel's Embedded Processors. It was developed by Intel's factory Applications Engineers to reduce you learning curve and shorten the total design time. You can develop peripheral initialization code without prior knowledge of the architecture with just the click of your mouse! ApBUILDER is your system expert on a disk. The software provides you with an interactive instruction and register editor, peripheral design capabilities, code optimization timing plus context sensitive links to the hypertext device user's manuals and data sheets.
ApBUILDER maps everything a programmer needs to each screen. All the options and configuration parameters for the device are displayed screen by screen. By simply pointing your mouse, you select only the valid options for the device and it's flexible too. There's a design section that allows you to select the functionality of each integrated peripheral. If you want to program a specific register, ApBUILDER provides the on-line capability of picking nd choosing the register bits you want to set. Choose either ASM or C output, hit the "Show Code" button and the source code can be copied to the clipboard. Simply paste the routine from the clipboard to your editor and combine it with your system code. ApBUILDER's code is fully commented and generated as a function or subroutine callable by your system code. In addition, the factory experts have designed the functions with Macros. This programming technique enables the developer to quickly change some configuration parameters (lets say due to a H/W design change) by just changing one macro flag. Without Macros, the developer must edit the entire code affected by the change parameter.
